This is an implementation of Apple’s custom MD5 hasher as a python module. This hasher is used in the DAAP authentication protocol, as documented at http://crazney.net/programs/itunes/authentication.html by David Hammerton.

To quote from the Digest::MD5::M4p docs:

If you don’t know why this is so, don’t bother with this module! It is incompatible with RSA and RFC standards!

This module is used by PythonDaap to construct authentication hashes for recent versions of iTunes. You can find it as part of the PythonDaap code.
